Abstract
A new water mite species, Monatractides adoratus sp. nov., is describe d from Corsica and Sardinia. The systematic and zoogeographical status of the new taxon are discussed. Its particular morphological features require the establishment of a new subgenus, Pinquicola subgen. nov.
