Wp. Kaschka, THE INTEGRATION OF PSYCHIC PROCESSES, THE NEUROENDOCRINE SYSTEM AND THE IMMUNE-SYSTEM, Zeitschrift fur klinische Psychologie, Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie, 44(3), 1996, pp. 280-289
This short overview shows that there are bidirectional interactions be
tween the central nervous system (CNS) and the immune system and deals
with their anatomical and physiological correlates. Moreover, a numbe
r of immunological findings related to exogenous stress, depressive di
sorders and schizophrenias are discussed. An attempt is made to cautio
usly interpret the data presented and to demonstrate that the field of
psychoneuroimmunology provides plenty of rewarding challenges for fut
ure research.
