Abstract
We summarize the results of a theoretical model, developed to investig ate the performance of a frequency converter based on four-wave mixing in a bulk traveling wave amplifier The theory predicts very high valu es of conversion efficiency and signal-to-background ratio in the band width of the converted signal. These results, whose experimental confi rmation is reported elsewhere, increase the potential of using four-wa ve mixing in semiconductor amplifiers in actual optical systems.
