Samples of the zirconium oxydihydrides and oxymonohydrides of composit
ions ZrH2O0.11-1.10 and ZrH1.0O0.14-1.90, respectively were synthesize
d for the investigation of phase-forming processes in zirconium-hydrog
en-oxygen systems. For each sample, the phase composition, crystal lat
tice constants, specific resistance and electronic work function were
determined. It has been shown that for the ZrH2-O-2 system, an increas
e of the oxygen concentration causes gradual substitution of the metal
lic bonds by covalent and ionic bonds. Copyright (C) 1996 Internationa
