St. Weir et al., ELECTRICAL-RESISTIVITY OF SINGLE-CRYSTAL AL2O3 SHOCK-COMPRESSED IN THE PRESSURE RANGE 91-220 GPA (0.91-2.20 MBAR), Journal of applied physics, 80(3), 1996, pp. 1522-1525
The electrical resistivity of single-crystal Al2O3 was measured at sho
ck pressures in the range 91-220 GPa. Shock pressures were generated b
y impacts of hypervelocity projectiles accelerated with a two-stage li
ght-gas gun. The resistivity varied from 170 to 20 Ohm cm in the press
ure range 91-180 GPa and then rapidly decreased to 0.2 Ohm cm at 220 G
Pa. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
