Results of the dilatation investigation of the porous samples LaNi4Al,
Laves phase Zr0.194Co0.07 Fe0.067Cr0.076V0.181Ti0.145Ni0.276 and TiNi
during cyclic hydrogenation are presented. The deformation is shown t
o have partially or completely reversible character. The reversible de
formation is determined by the physical and chemical nature of the mat
erial and does not depend on the geometrical and technological paramet
ers of the system. The irreversible deformation is caused by the parti
cle pulverization and its value is the measure of the material destruc
tion during hydrogenation-dehydrogenation. The phenomenon of the defor
mation hysteresis connected with the hysteresis of the direct reverse
phase transformation has been discovered. Copyright (C) 1996 Published
