Hk. Collan et J. Krustok, LINE-SHAPE, LINE-WIDTH, AND CONFIGURATION COORDINATE DIAGRAM OF THE CU BAND (1.21 EV) IN INP - COMMENT, Journal of applied physics, 80(3), 1996, pp. 1937-1939
A recent article by Pal and Bose [J. Appl. Phys. 78, 5206 (1995)] repo
rts a photoluminescence measurement of the Cu-related 1.2 eV optical e
mission band in InP. By applying the configuration coordinate (CC) mod
el they concluded that the ground-state phonon energy of the recombina
tion center involved with this band is exactly the same as the TO phon
on energy 38 meV at the Gamma point. Also, it was concluded that for t
he CC model to be consistent with other experimental data presented, o
ne should assume that in the CC diagram the phonon energies for the gr
ound state hv(g) and for the excited state hv(e), respectively, are si
gnificantly different. We have reanalyzed part of their data and argue
that the conclusions may not be warranted. (C) 1996 American Institut
