Abstract
2,2'-Indolylindolines undergo facile photooxidation to form symmetrica l fluorescent 2,2'-biindoles. The reaction proceeds slowly in air unde r ambient light, but direct irradiation facilitates the reaction. Pept ide and N-glycosylated substrates are compatible with this mild photoo xidation.
