PRODUCTION OF A PROMPT PHOTON IN ASSOCIATION WITH A CHARM QUARK AT NEXT-TO-LEADING ORDER IN QCD

A second order O(alpha(s)(2)) calculation in perturbative quantum chro modynamics of the two particle inclusive cross section is presented fo r the reaction p + (p) over bar --> gamma+ c + X for large values of t he transverse momentum of the prompt photon and charm quark. The combi nation of analytic and Monte Carlo integration methods used here to pe rform phase-space integrations facilitates the imposition of photon is olation restrictions and other selections of relevance in experiments. Differential distributions are provided for various observables. Posi tive correlations in rapidity are predicted.
