Z. Lamkadmi et al., CHARACTERIZATION OF A 23 KDA POLYPEPTIDE INDUCED BY PHOMA-LINGAM IN BRASSICA-NAPUS LEAVES, Plant physiology and biochemistry, 34(4), 1996, pp. 589-598
Modifications in the pattern of proteins accumulated in Brassica napus
leaves after inoculation with Phoma lingam were studied. 2-D electrop
horesis revealed the accumulation of a 23 kDa, pI 7 polypeptide (P23)
in the inoculated plants 24 h after inoculation. Antibodies raised in
rabbits against this polypeptide were used to study its systemic induc
tion. In the first leaf, a significant increase of P23 was detected in
the necrosis zone, but also at a lower level in the non-infected zone
. Immunodetection of P23 in protein extracts and among the products of
in vitro translation showed the relationship between the appearance o
f this polypeptide and stress induction during the first phase of the
disease.
