Abstract
Trends indicate that rotary kilns in the cement industry will no longe r be driven exclusively by DC drives. This article takes a look at the reasons behind the long and successful application of oc technology i n driving cement kilns in cement plants around the globe. The current trend towards increased use of AC drive technology is examined using r ecent examples. Recommendations are included for potential cement kiln operators.
