A. Lehmacher et al., PULSED-FIELD GEL-ELECTROPHORESIS AND TYPING OF NOSOCOMIAL SERRATIA-MARCESCENS ISOLATES, Medical microbiology letters, 5(5), 1996, pp. 245-252
A rapid and economical procedure for macrorestriction analysis of Serr
atia marcescens DNA from nosocomially infected intensive care patients
was evaluated and compared to biotyping, antimicrobial susceptibility
typing, plasmid analysis and ribotyping of the isolates. Macrorestric
tion analysis of S. marcescens turned out to be practical, reliable an
d superior to the other methods as regards discrimination.
