Abstract
MgCl2-supported VOCl3 catalyst has been prepared and EB used as the in ternal electron donor. A kinetic study has been made on the polymeriza tion of 1-octene with the above catalyst activated by AlEt(3). The rat e of polymerization is directly proportional to the catalyst and monom er concentrations. The activation energy found is 44.84 kJ mol(-1). Th e polymer has been characterised by H-1 and C-13 nmr, ir and viscosity measurements. The percentage of isotactic polymer produced has been d etermined. The effect of various external electron donors on the rate of polymerization is studied.
