J. Kruse et al., TEAM SUPERVISION IN ONCOLOGICAL UNITS - P ERCEPTION OF THE GROUP LEADER AND OUTCOME, Gruppenpsychotherapie und Gruppendynamik, 32(2), 1996, pp. 99-111
Medical staff members in pediatric oncology are exposed to a variety o
f emotional stressors. Supervision should remove the burden by a bette
r emotional understanding of the caretaker-patient relationship. Empir
ical studies concerning supervision process and outcome with medical s
taff are rare in this field - but many studies mentioned the problems
of implementation. Our explorative-empirical study describes the proce
ss of medical staff supervision in two pediatric oncology units. Resul
ts are demonstrating the high correlation between increasing psychosoc
ial competence and supervisors image (engaged expert, careful partner)
. The importance for supervision outcome will be discussed.
