The thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity and heat capacity of mix
ed crystals of KCl1-XBrX:Eu2+ (0 less than or equal to X less than or
equal to 1) were obtained using the open photoacoustic cell technique
and the temperature-rise method. The thermal diffusivity and thermal c
onductivity show a nonlinear behavior as a function of the concentrati
on X. This behavior is explained by the disorder in the material due t
o the random distribution of the Cl and Br atoms in the lattice sites,
The EU(2+) dopant does not affect the composition dependence of these
thermal properties.
