A phase-conjugate ring laser operating on a single longitudinal mode a
nd with good beam quality (TEM(00)) is reported. Phase conjugation is
achieved with stimulated Brillouin scattering by CS2. The system acts
as an oscillator-two-pass amplifier system, and the intensity-dependen
t reflectivity of stimulated-Brillouin scattering, positioned outside
the ring oscillator, acts as a Q switch.
