Abstract
In the past, informed consent in pathology was confined chiefly to aut opsies. Changes in both consent law and pathology practice led to cons ent being important in a broader sense in the laboratory. Areas discus sed in this article include blood transfusion, tissue specimens, fine needle aspiration, and phlebotomy.
