F. Khalili et Aa. Issa, THERMODYNAMICS OF THE DISSOCIATION OF BORIC-ACID AND POTASSIUM HYDROGEN PHTHALATE IN AQUEOUS ACETONITRILE MIXTURES, Annali di chimica, 86(3-4), 1996, pp. 193-203
The dissociation of boric acid and potassium hydrogen phthalate was in
vestigated in the temperature range 5.00-40.00 degrees C in acetonitri
le-water mixtures. The composition of acetonitrile was varied up to 60
% (w/w). pK values for boric acid rose progressively with acetonitrile
addition and temperature lowering, while those for potassium hydrogen
phthalate, increased with the increase of acetonitrile in the mixture
s and temperature. Values for enthalpy, entropy, free energy, and heat
capacity of dissociation were calculated for each acid, and the resul
ts discussed.
