Abstract
The title compound, alpha-Na-7[H3SiW9O34].9H2O, is the first alpha-iso mer of heteropolyoxometalate anions [XW(9)O(34)](Z-). Its crystal stru cture is interesting because of the unusual coordination chemistry of the Na+ cations and the formation of a microporous solid. While one of the three crystallographically independent Na+ cations is coordinated by oxygen atoms of the polyanions, the others form a cluster of four face-sharing sodium-oxygen-octahedra. The resulting microporous networ k contains large hexagonal channels.
