P. Mathey et al., PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF A PHOTOREFRACTIVE NOVELTY FILTER FOR MOTIONTRACKING AND EDGE ENHANCEMENT, Optics communications, 129(3-4), 1996, pp. 301-310
The optimisation of a photorefractive novelty filter configuration bas
ed on two-beam coupling and energy depletion of the object bearing bea
m is conducted. The BaTiO3 sample is characterised in terms of depleti
on efficiency. The suitability of the system in motion tracking and ed
ge enhancement is demonstrated. Two parameters, the contrast and the f
ull width at half maximum of the detected edges, are used to character
ise the information quality. The study is conducted for different obje
ct velocities and several beam intensities. The results obtained for e
dge enhancement are compared with those reached by data processing.
