H. Okubo et al., HIGH-VOLTAGE INSULATION PERFORMANCE OF CRYOGENIC LIQUIDS FOR SUPERCONDUCTING POWER APPARATUS, IEEE transactions on power delivery, 11(3), 1996, pp. 1400-1406
This paper describes high voltage insulation technology of cryogenic l
iquids for superconducting power apparatus. The insulation of a superc
onducting transformer is classified into several insulation components
. Moreover, we investigate fundamental insulation characteristics pecu
liar to the superconducting and cryogenic circumstances: area and volu
me effects on breakdown strength, V-t characteristics, quench-induced
dynamic breakdown characteristics and so on. Finally, we systematize t
he electrical insulation of cryogenic liquids, and propose the flow ch
art for the practical insulation design of superconducting power appar
atus.
