G. Gela et al., APPLICATION OF PORTABLE PROTECTIVE GAPS FOR LIVE WORK ON COMPACT 550 KV TRANSMISSION-LINES, IEEE transactions on power delivery, 11(3), 1996, pp. 1419-1429
This paper presents result of research on the application of a Portabl
e Protective Gap (PPG) to live work on a compact 550 kV steel lattice
tower. The objective of the research was to provide experimental evide
nce which confirms the needed coordination of the PPG sparkover charac
teristics with the sparkover characteristics of the worksite on the co
mpact tower during live work. Sparkover characteristics of the worksit
e are strongly affected by the presence of the worker, the live workin
g tools, and damaged insulators.
