T. Mitsumori et al., NUCLEON MEAN FREE-PATH IN NUCLEAR-MATTER BASED ON NUCLEAR SCHWINGER-DYSON FORMALISM, Progress of theoretical physics, 96(1), 1996, pp. 179-189
The mean free path of a nucleon moving through nuclear matter with kin
etic energy larger than 100 MeV is formulated based on the bare vertex
nuclear Schwinger-Dyson (BNSD) method in the Walecka model. The self-
energy which is derived from diagrams of higher than fourth order incl
udes the Feynman part of the propagator of an energetic nucleon and gr
ows up rapidly with its kinetic energy increasing. To avoid too large
a growth of these diagrams, meson propagators are modified by introduc
ing some form factors to take into account an internal structure of ha
drons. It is confirmed that a reasonable form factor is necessary to c
ompare our numerical results of the mean free path with experimental d
ata.
