The relative rates and Hammett correlations have been obtained for the
title reaction in the temperature range 90-110 degrees C, yielding th
e differential activation parameters (Delta Delta H(Y-H)double dagger
and Delta Delta S(Y-H)double dagger). The two differential terms maint
ain an isokinetic relation. The plot of Delta Delta S(Y-H)double dagge
r versus sigma(+) gives a straight line with a negative slope.
