FALSE HYDATIC ANEURYSM OF THE THORACOABDO MINAL AORTA

Arterial complications of hydatic disease are rarely encountered. We r eport a false hydatic aneurysm of the thoracoabdominal aorta revealed by ischemic embolism of the lower limbs. Surgical treatment included a orto-aortic prosthesis and albendazol for 6 months. Results at 18 mont hs are excellent with negative hydatic serology. In endemic areas, hyd atic disease is a possible cause of false aneurysms. Long-term surveil lance is required after curative surgery and medical treatment.
