Takayasu's arteritis involves the pulmonary artery tree in more than 5
0 % of the cases. Initial isolated involvement of the pulmonary artery
by Takayasu's arteritis, however, is very rare. We report the case of
a 34-year-old white woman who presented a clinical and radiographic p
attern that mimicked an acute pulmonary embolism with pulmonary infarc
tion. Pulmonary angiography showed stenosis lesions and occlusion of t
he right pulmonary artery tree. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrate
d thickening of the pulmonary artery wall leading to the correct diagn
osis.
