M. Mestiri et al., SYNOVIAL LIPOMA ARBORESCENS OF THE KNEE - A CASE-REPORT, Revue de chirurgie orthopedique et reparatrice de l'appareil moteur, 82(4), 1996, pp. 340-343
The authors report a case of a synovial lipoma of the knee in a 40 yea
rs old man who suffered from chronic instability of the right knee ass
ociated to an extensive joint swelling and recurrent hydarthrosis. Ult
rasonography and arthrography showed a synovial process and the comput
erized tomography showed an inhomogeneous low density due to its fat c
ontent suggesting a synovial lipoma arborescens of the knee. Final dia
gnosis was confirmed by histological examination of the arthroscopic b
iopsy. The authors discuss, through out their case and a review of the
literature, modern investigation findings and indication for surgical
treatment of this desease.
