We synthesized diethynylbenzene macrocycles (DBMs), cyclic oligomers o
f diethynylbenzene, having functional groups in the periphery of the m
acrocyclic framework and investigated their self-association propertie
s in solution resulting from pi-pi stacking interaction. The tetrakis-
DBM having hexadecyl ester groups showed dimerization behavior not onl
y in chloroform-d, but also in o-dichlorobenzene-d(4). Copyright (C) 1
