D. Nanni et al., ISONITRILES AS SOURCE AND FATE OF IMIDOYL RADICALS - A NOVEL HOMOLYTIC ALPHA-FRAGMENTATION, Tetrahedron letters, 37(52), 1996, pp. 9337-9340
Imidoyl radicals 4a-c react with phenylacetylene to give annulation pr
oducts and nitrile 12, arising from beta-scission of the intermediate
iminyl radical that is involved in the rearrangement of azaspirocycloh
exadienyl 8. In contrast, imidoyls 4d and 15 do not react with the alk
yne and give good yields of the corresponding isonitriles through a no
vel example of homolytic alpha-fragmentation. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsev
