Abstract
In 1994, HP's Man-Link recipe-generation system was enhanced to reduce the time required for setting up pick-and-place machines. This was do ne by ordering the products to exploit the commonality of parts among them and by creating sequences of setups that differ as little as poss ible from one another. This paper documents the issues and trade-offs and discusses the potential benefits.
