Abstract
Cameron and Pierce's (1994) conclusion that rewards do not pose a thre at to intrinsic motivation is a misrepresentation of the literature ba sed on a flawed meta-analysis. Their call to abandon cognitive evaluat ion theory is more an attempt to defend their behaviorist theoretical turf than a meaningful consideration of the relevant data and issues.
