Abstract
This study explored the relationship between individual differences an d behavioral intentions toward entrepreneurial careers, defined here a s owning one's own business. Of particular interest was a recent innov ation in the individual differences literature - the proactive persona lity scale. Using a sample of 181 students, entrepreneurial intentions were found to be significantly associated with gender; education, hav ing an entrepreneurial parent, and possessing a proactive personality, The strongest association was found between entrepreneurial intention s and the Proactive personality scale. Hierarchical regression analysi s showed that proactivity explained significant incremental variance i n entrepreneurial intentions above ann beyond that explained by the ot her variables.
