Abstract
The effect of Ca-doping on bulk samples of La1-xCaxMnO3 has been inves tigated, as well as the effect of sample annealing under air and oxyge n. The maximum magnetoresistance is observed for ferromagnetic samples , with La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 composition, annealed at an optimum temperatur e of 1200 degrees C. A simple phenomenological model has been used whi ch describes the magnetic and transport properties as resulting from a n exchange-induced band-crossing SC-metal transition.
