V. Schaeffler et al., TRENDS IN FOOD-CONSUMPTION IN A SOUTH GERMAN POPULATION FROM 1984 85 TO 1989/90 - RESULTS FROM THE WHO MONICA PROJECT AUGSBURG/, Annals of nutrition & metabolism, 40(3), 1996, pp. 129-136
In the risk factor surveys of the WHO MONICA project Augsburg 1984/85
(S1) and 1989/90 (S2), a qualitative food frequency questionnaire with
24 items was used to monitor trends in food consumption in two indepe
ndent age- and sex-stratified two-stage cluster samples of the populat
ion aged 25-64 years (S1: n = 4,022; S2: n = 3,966). Alcohol intake wa
s assessed by separate questions. From S1 to S2 slight but encouraging
trends towards a better agreement with dietary guidelines could be fo
und with a decreasing monthly consumption of meat, sausages and ham, e
ggs, and beer and an increasing consumption of cooked vegetables and c
ereals. These trends correspond well with trends in food supply data.
