Quenching of the fluorescence of two chiral fluorophores, 2,2'-dihydro
xy-1,1'-binaphthalene and 2,2'-diamino-1,1'-binaphthalene, has been us
ed successfully to determine the concentrations of each of the two ena
ntiomers of the chiral quencher I-phenylethylamine in a mixture of bot
h enantiomers, From the concentrations of each enantiomer, the enantio
meric excess may be calculated, The method has been shown to be accura
te with an LOD of 10% of one enantiomer in the presence of the other.
