Vv. Kutumbarao et T. Rajagopalachary, RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN MODELING THE HOT-WORKING BEHAVIOR OF METALLIC MATERIALS, Bulletin of Materials Science, 19(4), 1996, pp. 677-698
Three distinct trends in the modeling of hot working behavior of metal
lic materials are identified. These are respectively (a) analytical an
d numerical methods to characterize the material flow behavior and rel
ated macroscopic properties, (b) metallurgical models to predict micro
structural parameters at each step in a multi-step processing operatio
n, and (c) hot workability models to predict optimum conditions of tem
perature and strain rate for a single step deformation. Important feat
ures of the models are critically examined and some possible direction
s for future work indicated.
