A search for the OZI-suppressed decay B/b(1)(1235) --> phi pi(0) of an
isovector meson with quark structure \(u (u) over bar - d (d) over ba
r)/root 2] was carried out in experiments with the LEPTON-F detector.
An upper limit on the ratio of its branching fractions, R(B) = Br[B/b(
1)(1235) --> phi pi(0)]/Br[B/b(1)(1235) --> omega pi(0)] < 4 x 10(-3),
is found at a 95% confidence level.
