The U Gem star (or dwarf nova or cataclysmic variable) TU Leo has been
studied frequently since its discovery in 1928. There exists definiti
vely only one observation that shows the object during an outburst. Th
e authors demonstrate that this 1917 key observation was simulated by
the accidental imaging of minor planet (8) Flora. The object is proved
to be an unconspicuous 15(m) G star, and TU Leo has to be deleted fro
m the files of U Gem stars.
