We have investigated by means of conventional Raman spectroscopy the t
emperature and pressure dependence of internal and external vibrations
of crystalline S-6. For the low temperature measurements we used chem
ically prepared S-6, For the high pressure experiments we produced S-6
from p-S in a high pressure diamond anvil cell. We systematically mea
sured the temperature and pressure dependence of frequencies and inten
sities of internal and external modes and improved the mode assignment
.
