Df. Keet et al., THE 1992 FOOT-AND-MOUTH-DISEASE EPIZOOTIC IN THE KRUGER-NATIONAL-PARK, Journal of the South African Veterinary Medical Association, 67(2), 1996, pp. 83-87
The monitoring of a foot-and-mouth disease epizootic amongst impala (A
epyceros melampus) in the Kruger National Park is described. Infection
rates of different sex and age classes of impala within the outbreak
focus were determined. Seroprevalence rates in other cloven-hoofed spe
cies were also determined. RNA sequencing of a portion of the 1D gene
of viruses isolated from SAT-2 viruses obtained from diseased impala s
howed that they were unrelated to previous SAT-2 isolates made from an
imals in the Kruger National Park.
