The ion solvation state of dimetallic salts (M = Li-Cs) of 9, 10-dihyd
roanthracene (DHA) and its derivatives in THF was studied by UV-VIS an
d NMR spectroscopies. The cations are situated on the opposite sides o
f the dianion plane in the dimetallic salts. Cation-dianion interactio
n stabilized the negative charge of the carbanion. The mechanism of di
anion charge stabilization is affected by a phenyl substituent.
