Abstract
Using the cyclopropylcarbinyl --> homoallyl free radical clock, absolu te rate constants for the abstraction of chlorine from molecular chlor ine (Cl-2), tert-butyl hypochlorite (Bu(t)OCl) and N-chloro-3,3-dimeth ylglutarimide (NCG) have been determined (kCl(2)) = 3.0 x 10(10), k(Bu tOCl) = 2.6 x 10(9) and k(NCG) = 3.6 x 10(7), all in l mol(-1) s(-1)).
