Abstract
A study on the use of waveletlike basis functions with vanishing momen ts to solve a plane wave incident on a piecewise linear metallic ship is presented. The electric field integral equation (EFIE) for the unkn own surface current distribution is formulated. The effects of the edg e discontinuities, discretization size, and the number of vanishing mo ments on the sparsity of the impedance matrix and the error of solutio n are discussed.
