Abstract
Recurrent erosion of the corneal epithelium has been treated successfu lly by phototherapeutic keratectomy when convention therapy has failed . We present a case of recurrent corneal erosion occurring 1 year afte r photorefractive keratectomy in a 55-year-old myopic woman. No cornea l abnormalities were previously identified in either the affected or t he fellow eye. This case demonstrates the potential for ineffective he aling of the corneal epithelial basement membrane complex after excime r laser photorefractive keratectomy.
