Abstract
A new sesquiterpene nicotinoyl alkaloid has been isolated from Maytenu s buchananii (Loes.) R. Wilczek and identified as 5-benzoyl-5-deacetyl wilforidine (1). This appears to be the first sesquiterpene nicotinoyl alkaloid based on hydroxywilfordic acid with a benzoyl group at C-5.
