Abstract
The coordination and reaction chemistry of eight-membered polyphosphor us heterocycles is outlined with particular focus on a versatile tetra phosphoxane P4O4 ring system. This ligand's coordination modes include s an exo-ditopic form which has been used to prepare a mixed-valent fa mily of heterobimetallic complexes with conserved cage structures suit able for the study of metal-metal interactions.
