Extraction of uranium(VI) was found to be quantitative at the equilibr
ium pH approximately equal to 6.5 and 4.8 with 0.1 M benzoic acid and
0.1 M cinnamic acid (HR), respectively. Based on the slope analysis, t
he extracted species in both the cases are found to be UO(2)R(2)(HR)(2
). Synergism was obtained with the binary mixture of the above two ext
ractants. The pH(0.5) values increase with the increase in the concent
ration of Na2SO4, NaSCN, and CH3COONa. But in case of NaCl, the pH(0.5
) values first decrease and then increase with the increase in concent
ration.
