Abstract
An investigation has been made of the cycloalkylation of phenol by fiv e- and six-membered alkyl- and alkenylcyclenes in the presence of cati onite KU-23. The use of KU-23 makes it possible to produce products in yields of 90-95 wt.%, and here the displacement of the multiple bond in the cyclenes to the heme position was established. This results in higher yields of the corresponding alkylcycloalkylphenols. (C) 1996 El sevier Science Ltd.
