Ma. Khalifa et Am. Hassaan, COMPLEXES OF SOME METAL-IONS OF SCHIFF-BASE LIGAND DERIVED FROM ISATIN WITH 2-AMINOTHIOPHENOL, Journal of the Chemical Society of Pakistan, 18(2), 1996, pp. 115-118
Complexes of Ni-II, Co-II, Cu-II, Pd-II, Zn-II, Cd-II and Pb-II with t
he Schiff base ligand derived from isatin with 2-aminothiophenol (HIAT
P), have been synthesized and characterized via elemental analyses, mo
lar conductance, magnetic moments, proton nuclear magnetic resonance,
infrared and electronic spectral studies. Two types of complexes were
isolated. The monometric M(IATP)(2)nH(2)O form in which the ligand act
s either monobasic tridenate suggesting octahedral structure or monoba
sic bidentate via NS ligating atoms yielding square planar or tetrahed
ral structures. On the other hand, the dimeric form [M(IATP)ClH2O](2)
in which the ligand acts as monobasic tridentate with sulfur atom form
ing a bridge between two central metal ions.
