MICRODETERMINATION OF CHLORIDE IN VARIETY OF SAMPLES BY INDIRECT SPECTROPHOTOMETRY

An indirect spectrophotometric method for the determination of chlorid e has been developed. The method is based on the oxidation of chloride by the successive addition of potassium per sulphate and sulphuric ac id. The released chlorine was used to liberate iodine from a mixture o f iodine and sulphuric acid. The liberated iodine was absorbed in star ch solution and the absorbance of blue iodine-starch complex was measu red at 585 nm. Effect of the concerned parameters was checked and the method was employed for chloride determination in a variety of samples .
